FERNANDO ALONSO says Ferrari must crack down on chaos and score "four or
five" podiums on the trot if he is to challenge for the world championship.

Alonso's win in Bahrain and his fortunate second place in Spain last weekend
sandwiched a turbulent period peppered with blunders.

The double world champ, 28, said: "So far we have had two engine problems,
one gearbox problem, one jumped start, some chaotic races.

"But still we are only three points behind the leader, so we are happy.

"From now we need four or five podiums in a row. We cannot have one podium

the championship, which is why we arrived in Barcelona before last weekend
with a very good approach.

Alonso is hoping for a further boost at Monaco on Sunday.

He added: "The championship is long and overall, for the remaining races, I
think we have a package, a car that can fight for the title, which is the
main goal.

While Alonso remains upbeat, his team-mate Felipe Massa has slipped into his
shadow.

Ferrari-bound at Massa's expense, he seems to have quietly withdrawn into his

His performance in Barcelona was unconvincing and he will need to step up a
gear at Monaco if he is to convince Ferrari's bosses to keep him.
