在2011紐約國際車展上的這輛2012 Mercedes-Benz（賓士）E63 AMG引擎蓋下裝的是一具新的5.5升V8雙渦輪增壓引擎，Mercedes-Benz已經以這具引擎取代了原本的6.3升自然進氣引擎。
這具代號M157的5.5升V8雙渦輪增壓引擎在正常情況下可提供518hp的最大馬力和71.4kgm的最大扭力，但如果選擇AMG的性能套件，則可將最大馬力提升至550hp，最大扭力也提升至81.6kgm。傳動系統部份是搭配AMG Speedshift MCT 7速Sports變速箱，並提供"S"（Sport），"S+"（Sport plus）和"M"（Manual）三種模式，這有助於降低燃油經濟性，同時維持強大的動力。
隨著高性能引擎以及Start/Stop系統的導入，2012 E60 AMG在燃油經濟性上比之前的6.3升引擎好上20％。裝了新引擎的E63 AMG轎車現在百公里油耗為9.8公升，一公升燃油約可行駛10.2公里的路程，而旅行車型的百公里油耗為10公升，一公升燃油約可行駛10公里的路程。
