對手為 300 匹的 Focus RS 和 250 匹的 Megane Renault Sport。
R20T 引擎為 2.0 L twin-turbo，最大馬力約為 300 匹。
應該是和 Audi S3 同一顆引擎，調整動力輸出。
Audi TT-RS 的 340 匹五缸 2.5 L turbo 也有可能裝在 Golf 身上。
動力也會往上調整，大約 390 匹，車名為 Golf R45。
