Waymo 自駕車成道路公害?美居民直呼恨透了
Alphabet 旗下子公司 Waymo,被視為自駕技術最先進的業者,今年底就要推出商用的自
駕計程車。不過網路媒體 The Information 爆料,Waymo 自駕車技術欠佳,連過個路口
都有困難,居民對自駕車抱怨連連。
CNBC、每日郵報引述網媒 The Information 報導,Waymo 在美國亞利桑納州鳳凰城郊區
測試自駕車一年多,十多名在 Waymo 鳳凰城總部附近工作的民眾直呼恨透自駕車,批評
自駕車連過 T 字路口都有難度。
一名婦人說,自駕車準備右轉時,突然煞車,害她差點撞上。另一名男子也說,自駕車過
馬路太花時間,他等到受不了違法繞過。居民抱怨自駕車行徑難以預料,會突然煞車或轉
彎,危害其他用路人。知情人士還透露,自駕車上的人員常常得接手操控,避免發生意外
。
此種情況突顯自駕車面對的挑戰,自駕車駕駛方式保守,但是又必須像人類駕駛一樣能趁
隙轉彎、切換車道。推特用戶 Nitin Gupta 最近上傳影片,指稱 Waymo 切不進高速公路
,錯失多次機會,最後只能朝出口離開。
Waymo 表示,自駕車仍在持續學習,安全是首要考量,不願對上述抱怨直接回應。Waymo
先前表示,今年底前將推出商用的自駕計程車,車上仍會有人類監督,以便在緊急時接手
。Waymo 執行長 6 月表示,自駕車普及所需時間,會比想像更久。
心得/說明:
全自動駕駛技術公認最為先進的Waymo,很少有這樣的負面消息傳出來
不過也不令人意外
畢竟全自動駕駛技術需要大量的時間跟大量的車累積里程數才能變得更好
雖然說Waymo 號稱有50億英哩的虛擬測試里程
但畢竟只是虛擬,很難模擬出其他人類駕駛者的真實反應
盡快的收集足夠多的實際里程應該會更有幫助
